Only 5tons will be selected yearly out of this single vineyard Shiraz. The vineyard is located high up on two opposite slopes that faces east towards west. First grapes harvested in the 2004 season for private production. Every single bunch was selected by hand.

Private Block A13
Sauvignon Blanc


Only 3000L of wine will be produced out of this single vineyard Sauvignon Blanc. The vineyard face east, receiving only morning sun. Every afternoon, during summer, a cool Southern breeze, from the most Southern point of Africa, cools down the vineyard. This influence of nature insures a nice crisp, fruit driven and elegant Sauvignon Blanc with good aging potential. Frikkie van der Westhuizen planted this vineyard for the love that he has for Sauvignon Blanc. The soil was originally rocky and not fertile enough for the growth of Sauvignon Blanc. The location was perfect. So he decided to mix the soil with fertile sludge that he discovered on the bottom of his dam, close by. This ensured a well balance single vineyard for the production of top quality wine. Lourens produced his firs maiden Sauvignon Blanc in the 2007 vintage from this vineyard.

Cabernet Sauvignon


First vintage is not yet produced at Arendsig. Grapes are currently going to Excelcior Estate in Robertson. This well balance vineyard is planted from east to west. The vineyard is located high up on a hill, overlooking the Breede River and the scenic valley.

Private Block A11
Chardonnay


This vineyard was planted for the production of Arendsig Chardonnay. The vineyard face east, receiving morning sun. Every afternoon, during summer, a cool Southern breeze, from the most Southern point of Africa, cools down the vineyard. This influence of nature insures a nice crisp, fruit driven and elegant Chardonnay with good aging potential. Some parts of this vineyard was originally impossible to grow vines on, because of the rocky structure. Threw hard work and the help of machines the soil was prepared. Virgin soil was used to establish a well balance single vineyard. Lourens produced his firs maiden Sauvignon Blanc in the 2007 vintage from this vineyard.

Private Block A12
Shiraz


This vineyard was planted for the production of Arendsig Shiraz. The vineyard face west, receiving afternoon sun. . Every afternoon, during summer, a cool Southern breeze, from the most Southern point of Africa, cools down the vineyard. The afternoon sunlight, with intensive managing processes, insures that the vineyard produce optimal ripe Shiraz grapes with concentrated berries. This influence of nature insures the production of elegant, full bodied Shiraz with well balance tannin structure. Every single bunch is selected by hand. Lourens produced the first wine in 2007 from this vineyard.

Private Viognier


Only 1000 vines planted with Private Block A12, Shiraz. Lourens selected these 1000 Viognier vines as blending components for his Rhone and Burgundy style wines. In exceptional years the Viognier will be done as a Private Selection Viognier.
